Rating Justification

The IVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks has fact-checked this content and established that it is False.

To arrive to this conclusion, the IVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks has conducted the
following process. We did a reserve image search and found out that most of the sites where the photo was posted have no any concrete evidence that it’s a crack on the expressway. The photo was also posted on Ma3Route Twitter account who later in their comments section confirmed that it was an expansion joint

We also established that the allegation of the expressway having cracks has not been confirmed by the relevant Authorities such as Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA). We contacted an engineer from KURA and he confirmed that the opening is of two beams next to each other.

A closer look on the photo can tell you that it’s not a crack but an expansion joint that allows contraction and expansion.
