In the original footage, Dr. Ruto defends Sakaja over his degree drama and challenges Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga to show his academic credentials.

To arrive to this conclusion, the iVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks has conducted the following process. We performed a reverse image search on the video and discovered the original footage, which was shared on Group Kenya TV’s YouTube channel on June 17, in which the Deputy President is clearly heard defending Nairobi Senator Sakaja over his degree drama.

We also discovered a video shared on NTV’s YouTube channel in which DP Ruto challenged his opponents to compete with him rather than Sakaja.
