To arrive to this conclusion, the iVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks has conducted the following process. On November 3, 2022, we contacted a Ugandan journalist working for the BBC, who confirmed that the incident was covered by the state-owned Luganda paper, Bukedde, and that the footage of the offender was taken at a police station.

Daniel Lutaaya, an award-winning investigative journalist from Uganda, and Sudhir Byaruhanga, Senior Reporter at NTV Uganda, both condemned the incident on their Twitter accounts on November 1 and November 2, 2022, respectively.

On November 1, 2022, the tweep, controversial blogger Abuga Makori, updated a thread on the tweet, apologizing to the people of Kiambu and clearly stating that the man is not from Kiambu and that he was misled.
