To arrive to this conclusion, the iVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks has conducted the following process. On November 10, 2022, we contacted the Kenya Red Cross Society Public Relations and Communication Manager, who dismissed the Paybill Number and stated that they had noted and flagged the Paybill Number that was soliciting funds for drought relief.

We also discovered a statement posted on the society’s official Twitter account on November 4, 2022, in which it warned Kenyans about the proliferation of fake humanitarian aid Paybill numbers circulating on social media, clarifying the legitimate pay bill number.

The iVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks did send money to the provided account number and discovered that the recipient was C2B Standard Chartered Bank.
