No, the image purporting to show first daughter Charlene selling smokies has been altered.

False

The image has been altered to make it appear that President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto did indeed sell smokie kachumbari at Daystar University.

The original photograph has been altered, with Charlene’s face photoshopped on the body of an eggs and smokies vendor at Nairobi’s Muthurwa market.

On December 7, 2022, while addressing students at the University, the First Daughter claimed she sold smokies to support herself while at university, adding that her father, then Deputy President, now Kenya’s head of state, encouraged her to continue with the business.
