The type of footwear that bandits in the North Rift wear during raids and ambushes so that their footprints are mistaken for cows
The images shared on Twitter claiming that bandits are using cow hooves padded sandals to be mistaken for cows in their movement have nothing to do with banditry in the North Rift, but rather with banditry in South Africa.
The images were originally shared by ‘Speak out for Animals’ in July 2021, an organization that advocates for animal protection, of antelope hooves padded sandals used by poachers to confuse game rangers from tracking them in South Africa’s Kruger game park.
