No, these are not demonstrations in Murang’a County.

The image of people digging up the road is not from Murang’a county in Kenya, but rather from a service delivery protest in Umzinyathi, one of the 11 district municipalities of KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa, in September 2020.

Residents were upset about the lack of water and electricity, so they decided to block the R33 with stones and dig up the road.
