We conducted a reverse image search on the image and discovered that it was first shared on Twitter on September 22, 2020 by Yusuf Abramjee, a South African journalist and anti-crime activist, when residents of Umzinyathi protested by damaging the road and demanding service delivery.

We also discovered an article published on September 23, 2020 by News24, an English-language South African news website, stating that Umzinyathi Mayor Petros Mthandeni Ngubane condemned the damaging of roads during Tuesday’s protest over service delivery in eBhovini, between Pomeroy and Dundee.
