No, the video showing Nairobi CBD being inaccessible due to recent protests in the country is old.

Misleading

The video of a man being beaten severely by police officers was shot during CORD-organized Anti-IEBC demonstrations in May 2016, and has nothing to do with the current Azimio la Umoja Coalition’s planned protest in March 20, 2023.

However, as early as 5:30 a.m., security within Nairobi had been beefed up in preparation for the Azimio la Umoja Coalition’s anticipated march.

We conducted a reverse image search and discovered that the video was taken on May 16, 2016 during a heavy-handed response to an opposition protest at the offices of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in Kenya’s capital, where riot officers beat up, Bernard Ngatia, a protester with batons, repeatedly kicking him even after being taken down by the officers, as he lay motionless on the ground.
