No, Kirinyaga Governor Waiguru has not been impeached over gross misconduct.

False

The screenshot attached to the post, purported to be from NTV Kenya, is not recent. The post was published on NTV Kenya’s X account in June 2020, when Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru faced impeachment due to gross misconduct and violation of the Constitution of Kenya. On March 31, 2020, the impeachment motion against Waiguru was submitted in the Kirinyaga County Assembly, and 23 of the 33 MCAs voted in favour of Waiguru’s dismissal.

The post follows a call to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, urging them to summon Waiguru in connection with the attack on Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina. The assailants are alleged to have been acting on instructions from the county government, as claimed.
