No, the image depicting Kericho Deputy Governor Eng. Kirui at the Azimio meeting has been manipulated.

Misleading

The bipartisan discussions, spearheaded by a 10-member joint committee, were formally initiated in August 2023. This committee is co-chaired by Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper party, and Kimani Ichung’wa, the Majority Leader of the National Assembly. It is noteworthy that this committee has actively engaged various officials, including Governors representing both coalition groups.

However, the image posted on Facebook on September 29, 2023, which claimed to depict Kericho Deputy Governor Eng. Fred Kirui attending the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya meeting, has been digitally manipulated to create the false impression that Kirui was present at the event.

The iVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks has fact-checked this content and established that it is Misleading.

To arrive to this conclusion, the iVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks has conducted the following process. We conducted a reverse image search and discovered that the image was originally captured and first shared, along with other photos, on September 29, 2023, on the Facebook account of Kisumu County Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o. These photos depicted the ongoing bipartisan discussions meeting. Upon closer examination of the attendees at this meeting, it was clear that Kericho Deputy Governor Fred Kirui was not among the officials present. It became evident that the face of Eng. Kirui had been superimposed onto the body of Kisumu County Head of Protocol Bob Madanje, who was indeed present and seen alongside Nyong’o.
